The musings, wanderings, and artistic endeavours of a 27-year old living in Las Vegas. |
Yesterday my sister and I met up at Town Square to do a little bit of shopping and have afternoon tea together at a new British restaurant that just opened, aptly named English’s. It was pretty packed inside when we arrived, so we chose to sit outside where we had the whole upstairs patio to ourselves. It was hot outside, but we found a shady table that overlooked the shoppers below, so it was perfect!

I felt so fancy sitting there with my teapot full of tea (Earl Grey, yum), a glass of bubbly champagne, and a whole tray of petite fours to devour eat delicately. The salmon sandwich was really good, but I think my favorite was the cucumber because it was so cold and light on the hot day.
Besides the food and tea, I had a wonderful time catching up with my sister and sharing lots of laughs. I even convinced her to host her own tea party at her house (a much cheaper and more personal alternative to having afternoon tea). Here’s hoping she does!
Have you ever had one of those days where you finally just say, “enough is enough, time to stop procrastinating” and get your butt in gear and do all those things you’ve been putting off? Today was that day for me, but boy, do I feel so much better for having done these simple little things.
Annoying task #1: Replace light bulb on front porch.
This only took me 5 minutes, but the thought of having to take the 10ft ladder off the wall in the garage and carry it to my front porch in the 105 degree Las Vegas heat was enough to make me put this off for a couple of weeks. But it’s done, and now I can see the keyhole at night when I come home.
Annoying task #2: Replace light bulb on my address # light
This has actually been broken since I moved in, over a year ago. I tried to fix it once but didn’t know what bulbs to buy, and then kept forgetting about it. Today I finally snapped a pic of the fixture with my phone and asked a guy at Home Depot which bulbs I needed. Yay! Now people can see the house # in the dark.
Annoying task #3: Clean the garbage disposal
For the past few months, any time I would use the garbage disposal, I would hear something clanging around inside it, and it would make an awful noise. I finally bucked up and stuck my hand down there and ended up pulling out two small pieces of wood, or something, I’m not quite sure what it was. Anyhow, the disposal runs smoothly and sounds normal now.
Annoying task #4: Organize the tupperware
I don’t know that this even needs an explanation, since I’m sure everyone knows how unwieldly tupperware can get. Done and done!
Oh yeah, and Jason even swept and mopped for me. ^__^
